To start with I would like to say that I have been a GOLMAAL fan ever since its first installment. The follow up to it was equally hilarious to say the least and the fact that ALL THE BEST followed in the same footstep made it just as entertaining but a little lesser hilarious. So when the third installment’s promos were aired my expectations rose sky high. What I was skeptical about was that how could the master strokes of the first three films be undone and boy-0-boy the third installment proved me wrong by a mile.
GOLMAAL 3 takes what is in Golmaal 1 and 2 and packs it with a punch like never before. The story is that of five individuals Gopal (Ajay Devgan), Laxman (Shreyash Talpade), Madhav (Arshad Warsi), Lucky (Tushar Kapoor), Laxman (Kunal Khemoo). Gopal and Laxman are children of Guddi while the other three are children of Pritam (Mithun Chakravarty). The twist in the tale comes from the fact that Pritam and Guddi are long lost lovers and Daboo (Kareena Kapoor) plots to get them married. The situation further worsens by the fact that the five dudes are arch rivals. This in turns leads to some hilarious situations.
Apart from the ensemble cast, all the known faces are back, Vasooli, Daga, Teja and a valued addition to the team is Pappi Bhai (Jonney Lever). Pappi Bhai is a thief who cannot remember anything for more than 15 minutess. There are some moments in his screen time that will leave you rolling on the floor with laughter. I especially loved the scene on the water scooter.
Golmaal is a mindless entertainer and not for a second does it try to be anything else and there in lies the reason for its success. People looking for thought provoking cinema will be disappointed but might also realize the fact that there is beauty to be found in the most insanely unexpected places.
Now on to the performances. Ajay steals the show with his refreshing act as an insanely short tempered but kind hearted dude. His finger breaking spree will put a smile or two on any lip. Arshad is brilliant as ever. Comedy just comes naturally to him. Tushar is charming and so is Kunal Khemoo. Mithun and the others do their part as well.
Final words, G3 is a laugh riot that one can see again and again and laugh simply at the pure idiocy of life. Go on and have a blast.
